In Chicago, historically marginalized youth aged 16-24 face some of the highest rates of unemployment and systemic exclusion in the country, while access to early-career opportunities continues to shrink as AI-driven automation reduces the need for traditional entry-level roles. According to the World Economic Forum, nearly 44% of core job skills are expected to change by 2027, yet traditional education systems are not keeping pace with this shift. As a result, many young people are left without clear pathways to gain experience, earn income, or build careers in today’s evolving workforce.
At the same time, Over 2.7 million manufacturing jobs in the U.S. are projected to go unfilled by 2030
Due to the uncertainty and rising costs of global tariffs, there is a growing demand for Made in the USA production, yet the skilled workforce needed to support the textile industry it is rapidly declining. With industrial sewing and small-batch manufacturing among the most overlooked and underserved trades. These skills are rarely taught in traditional school systems, leaving a critical gap in both workforce development and domestic production capacity.
CRE8 Space was founded to bridge this gap—igniting economic mobility by equipping youth with hands-on training in industrial sewing and textile production while also preparing them for the future of work through AI and digital skills. Through a paid, earn-and-learn model, participants gain real-world experience, develop in-demand technical skills, and access clear pathways to employment, freelance income, & entrepreneurship
WHO WE ARE
CRE8 Space L3C is a vocational workforce social enterprise with a "learn and earn" business model that prepares underserved youth ages 16–24 for high-growth careers through 3 core pathways:
- Industrial Sewing and Production Certification
- Entrepreneurship for the Creative Arts
- Generative & Agentic AI Certification
With a 100% completion rate, CRE8 Space does more than place youth into employment opportunities, freelance careers, and entrepreneurial ventures. It’s a safe haven for youth to heal, grow, and live on purpose. Through peer-to-peer mentorship, professional development, and trauma-informed support, we help our participants strengthen their mental wellbeing, build emotional resilience, enhance communication and problem solving skills, as well as discover their life purpose. Our programs provide apprenticeships, paid internships, on-the-job training, employment opportunities, and access to creative expression, allowing youth to build both their skillset and self-worth.
By combining hands-on vocational training with personal growth and entrepreneurial skills, CRE8 Space is reimagining what the future of workforce looks like in historically marginalized communities & empowering the next generation of business owners, innovators, and creative leaders.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a safe, inspiring environment where Chicago youth can grow, learn, and earn while developing the technical and life skills needed for lasting success.
Our paid “learn and earn” model combines nationally recognized ISAIC-certified training with mentorship and financial literacy education—teaching the basics of budgeting, credit, and how money works. Offered at no cost, CRE8 Space removes financial barriers while equipping participants to become confident, financially competent, and purpose-driven adults ready to thrive in both work and life.

Our vision at CRE8 Space, is to create a safe haven where young people are empowered to learn, create, and express themselves while developing practical skills that lead to lasting careers. We aim to rebuild the strength of America’s workforce by providing accessible, hands-on training in industrial sewing and textile manufacturing, recognized as a vital trade that’s rapidly disappearing across the U.S. Alongside this, we prepare youth for the future of work through Generative AI and digital marketing training, intertwining traditional craftsmanship with today’s technology. Through mentorship, creative exploration, and a commitment to accessibility, we envision a future where every learner is met where they are, and equipped with the confidence, discipline, and skill to succeed in both work and life.
Our Goal
Our goal is to revolutionize the future of fashion by building a sustainable, U.S.-based textile and apparel workforce, starting in Chicago. We aim to equip youth from historically marginalized communities with industry-relevant skills in industrial sewing, AI-powered design, and fashion entrepreneurship. By combining hands-on training with mentorship and mental wellness support, we’re not only increasing America’s capacity for local manufacturing but also creating pathways out of poverty, reducing urban violence, and empowering a new generation of change-makers to lead the movement toward a more equitable and sustainable fashion industry.
